Award-winning painter specializes in abstracts
Sarah Soderlund expresses feelings in two-dimensional watermedia and collage, painting “from the gut,” she says. The Kilmarnock-based painter will exhibit about 20 works she has created over the past quarter-century during September in Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury’s Gallery Hall.
Soderlund is a third-generation award-winning artist. She began painting as a watercolorist, but now does mostly non-representational acrylic watermedia. “I tell stories with a paintbrush,” she explains.
Soderlund is an enthusiastic teacher and active member of the Northern Neck arts community. She regularly exhibits at the Studio Gallery in Kilmarnock and was the gallery’s volunteer manager for two years.
Residents and community members are invited to view and purchase artwork from Soderlund’s exhibition 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily throughout September in Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury’s Gallery Hall.
